-Collaboration, communication, teamwork, thinking skills, core skills, and core knowledges
-selective history
-Teacher as a guide
-Nourish the child
-Dynamic direct instuction as a part of a whole
-Be aware of the culture of the kids, -on top of ethnicity, socio-economic background, be aware of technology awareness
-Selected, well written literature
-Good grmmatical writing skills
-Always teach from New Church educational love and principles
-Doctrines of human development

2. What about 20th century New Church education should we change?
-Can't be too rigidly "curricular" - must finish all traditional curricula; move towards project-based, more flexible, student-engaged education
-teach about reliable references
-distinguish reliable sources
-on-line safety
-"place-based" and experiential learning
-get more interdisciplinary
-need an "organizer" to develop collaboration and intersdisciplinary curriculum mapping, pre-k to college
-don't be afraid of the technology
-be aware that the students "expect to be entertained" ie- information needs to be in "shorter blips"
-allow kids to explore and make mistakes - student influences process
-cultural literacy is important, but it will be difficult to make the descisions as to what to keep/change, for example: cursive

-Willingness of teachers to adapt to new styles or pacing or goals of teaching. Nothing againts teaching, but the teaching system does honor or focus on the ways and info. that has "been done"
-A tricky balance between tried-and-true and new avenues of learning
-time, money, staff, faculty
-agreement on approach

-change in parenting: job to defend child no matter what
-desire for freedom vs. need to learn to be lead/do things that are hard
